Department 56 Dickens Village Golden Swan Baker - Anniversary Edition

Third in the ongoing series of new designs reinterpreting the Original Shops of Dickens' Village introduced in 1984. Preparations for the holiday gatherings included a visit to the bakery. Delectable treats such as ginger cakes and minced pies could be found at the Golden Swan. Many aspects of this new Bakery are reminiscent of the original building offered in 1984; timber-framed construction brown tile roof third floor dormer a large red-brick chimney and main floor bay windows. The swan on the front sign as well as baked goods on the side sign help customers identify the bakery. The large bay windows feature miniature bakery goods. Signs around the front note the vast selection inside. Note the tiny sculpted broom near the front door kept handy for cleaning the front step on a snowy day. Touches of silver to commemorate The 25th Anniversary are added to the front lantern and hanging sign. Special 25th Anniversary bottom stamp.

The original Shops of Dickens Village featured seven small and simple designs representing the core elements of an English town in the 19th Century-the butcher the baker a candle shop black smith inn green grocer and the basket shop.

In 2009 Dept 56 celebrates the Silver Anniversary of this beloved village. To commemorate this anniversary Dept 56 is pleased to introduce several inspiring new pieces to give collectors a fresh series of buildings based on the classic pieces introduced in 1984
